Through a new data project, Gretchen Keillor, an urban planner and data analyst is attempting to break the issue of homelessness down into digestible parts through simple data visualizations. Through her website "Understating Homelessness," Keillor presents the fundamental issues of homelessness; using simple lists and infographics to tell the story. She identifies who is considered homeless, why they are considered homeless, and then attempts to identify, map, and analyse where they are. She says, “as a planner, I think we should be taking a stronger responsibility in responding to this problem and integrating [homeless people] into the fabric of the city.”
